This skyscraper construction update is a two-fer: The Hudson, at 750 North Hudson Avenue; and 400 West Huron… at 400 West Huron Street.

It’s hard to tell who’s leading this River North race, as 400 West Huron appears to have just about reached its ultimate height of 15 stories. Meanwhile over at 750, it looks to be at about 25, which is where it was going anyway. Both buildings are glazing up faster than a boxer who just took a surprise left hook.
As we’ve reported before, 400 West Huron is a Smithfield Properties project, designed by Berkelhamer Architects. There will be ground floor retail, parking from B1 through three, and 26 residences on floors four through 15. The 400 West Huron web site starts with the following enticement:
Sure, it’s not meant to be a slap in the face to all those people who put down good green cash for homes at 30 West Oak, but sometimes marketing departments should remember the phrase, “when in doubt, leave it out.”
Vanncouver’s Onni Group goes a little more cliche with its web site for 750, designed by Pappageorge Haymes. Onni scores 68 points in buzzword Bingo for luxury, boutique, designer, and elevated. It actually lost points for describing the floorplans as “functional.” Perhaps that means something else in Canadian
