Howdy, Neighbor! Two Construction Crews on Adjacent Plots

The people at 810 North Clark Street aren’t complaining about the construction noise at 816 North Clark Street, or vice versa. That’s because both plots are devoid of residents, and populated only by construction crews.

Surely in the history of Chicago construction, it’s happened before that two adjacent properties would be under development by different teams and owners. But in our 13 years chronicling downtown Chicago, we haven’t seen it.

At 810 North Clark is a 15-story residential high-rise with 110 apartments designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture as part of the Bush Temple of Music rehabilitation project.

It’ll rub elbows (figuratively) with 816 North Clark Street, the new Mormon Chapel being rapidly built next door.

Near North Spy Tim sent in the photo above which shows how close the two construction sites are, with 810 at the top and 816 on the bottom.

We’d like to see some hard-hatted construction workers passing bottles of mustard back-and-forth over the fence at lunchtime. Maybe one side can get the coffee and the other can get the crullers on donut Friday.
