The old Howard Johnson motel in River North is but a distant memory at 720 North LaSalle Street. That’s because it was smashed to smithereens to make way for the 34-story high rise officially designated as 165 West Superior.
Designed by friends-of-the-blog bKL Architecture, the 298-unit apartment tower will sit atop a 4-story podium that will house the building’s 109 parking spaces. Atop the podium will be an outdoor lap pool and landscaped deck, accessed directly from the fitness center, lounge, and spa areas. Mother nature will appreciate the green roof, as well as the pocket park located along Wells Street, facilitated by the 80-foot setback at ground level. You can expect to retail space to front LaSalle and Superior, also at street level.
A venture of Magellan Development Group, the 283,000-square-foot project is expected to be completed in 2017. Linn-Mathes is providing general contractor services.
