Grille-ing Out: Lexus to Debut Refreshed IS Sedan in China

Beijing Motor Show, Beijing China

Lexus announced that it will release a redesigned IS sports sedan at the Beijing Motor Show in the coming days, and based off of the teaser image, it appears as though the brand’s BMW 3-series fighter will receive a face inspired by the Lexus RC coupe.

Although the luxury brand calls the new Lexus IS “redesigned,” that’s being a bit, uh, bold. This car represents the model’s mid-cycle update, as the current, third-generation IS has only been on the market for three model years. In fact, the IS just recently received a handful of powertrain tweaks for 2016, including the addition of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the IS200t.

Nevertheless, we’re interested to see what Lexus has in store for the IS in Beijing, including just how large that grille has managed to get. Keep an eye on Car and Driver as more information about the new Lexus IS comes our way.
