Tuesday in this very space, we shared photos with you of the two towers that have just begun to take root in the 2200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. But if you think two towers are plenty of activity for one block, you’d be mistaken.
Just to the south, at 2211 North Milwaukee Avenue, Property Markets Group is busy erecting L, a 120-unit rental building designed by Chicago firm Brininstool + Lynch. If Arco/Murray National Construction, the general contractor at L sounds familiar, you may remember them from the work they did on Vesta Lofts in the South Loop. That building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, now boasts 60,000 of rental residence space, 7,000 square feet of retail space, and a really cool yellow water tank atop it all. And you surely recognize Brininstool + Lynch from, among other projects, they’re two South Loop towers at 1333 and 1345 South Wabash.
It would appear the building has topped out at 6 stories. There’s a considerable amount of work left to do, but there’s no reason to believe the goal of opening in Spring 2016 won’t be met.
