Now you’ve got that stuck in your head for the rest of the day, thanks to West Loop Spy Kurt who not only sent in the crane photos for today’s crane update, but also suggested the cheeseball headline.
There was no way we were going to pass that one up.
The crane is for 165 North Des Plaines Street, the 14-story, 199-unit residential building designed by GREC Architects for Gerding Edlin and being powered into place by Power Construction.
The neighbors at 180 North Jefferson have been warned that the crane’s boom will swing within just eight feet of their building. Imagine waking up in the morning, throwing open the curtains and being greeted by ten tons of ambulatory geometric steel. That’ll move your ticker faster than Pike’s Place Roast.
The crane installation photos were taken a few days ago, which means this project is ever-so-slightly ahead of its public schedule, which earmarked the crane arrival for August. If the schedule holds, it’ll be here until April.
