Who doesn’t love One Bennett Park? Well, the people about to lose their views. But aside from them, it seems like Chicago’s entire skyscraper nerd community is looking forward to seeing Related Midwest’s huge 843-foot-tall building rise almost, but not quite, on Chicago’s lakefront.
We’ll be among the photographers front and center (or more likely, renting a helicopter) when the building designed by Robert A.M. Stern is done to make sure our photo library is properly stocked. But that isn’t stopping people from taking pictures already, and it’s only just begun construction.
On the same day, both Joe Zekas from YoChicago! and Daniel Schell from Building Up Chicago sent over pics of the foundation work now underway at 451 East Grand Avenue. That foundation work is expected to continue almost until the end of the year, and in December Lendlease hopes to start pouring the first concrete slabs.
Until that happens, enjoy these pre-building building pictures. Joe’s above, Daniel’s below.
