Want to get a look at a brutalist skyscraper masterpiece right in your own backyard? Take a peek over at the Aurélien at 833 North Clark Street. The skyscraper is still under construction, and its unfenestrated sides, with their concrete fins and exposed columns, look like a brutalist delight. Much like the old Exxon (Humble Oil) headquarters in Houston.

Thanks to Near North Spy Tim for brutalizing our tip line with the photos.

Mercifully, the Aurélien won’t look the way it does for long. In fact, some parts of it are already completely buttoned up with glass, so you can very easily imagine how it will look when completed in all of its shiny goodness.

When done, the 31-story building will have 78 studios and convertibles, 212 one-bedroom residences, 76 two-bedroom residences and seven jumbo apartments marketed as penthouses. The Smarty McSmartysons over at YoChicago! predict above average views.

At the groundbreaking a little over a year ago, Lincoln Property Management and Ryan Companies promised the Antunovich Associates-assisted tower will be finished early next year. Considering the state of things today, now is probably a good time to line up clowns and dancing girls for the grand opening.
