Life is rough for pigeons.  Between shivering through a Chicago winter and dodging rats trying to gnaw your feet off, there’s not a lot good about being a bird in this city.  Except for the whole flying thing.  That’s awesome.

And thanks to Streeterville Spy Paul we get to see what the pigeons see when they look down on the construction of the new Marriott Autograph Hotel at 228 East Ontario Street. When complete, it will rise 22 stories and have 200 rooms.

The new hotel is going up on a 60’x120′ sliver of land wedged between a condominium block and an old mansion converted into Les Nomades, one of the city’s best French restaurants.  It’s the latest design by Koo and Associates for SMASHotels.   You may remember SMAS from such downtown Chicago hotels as theWit, and the Fairfield Inn and Suites Downtown/Magnificent Mile.
