If you haven’t been by the Renaissance Hotel up near O’Hare in a while, now’s as good a time as any to pay it a visit.  The hotel has just finished a six million dollar renovation, which includes all 360+ rooms, as well as the lobby, common areas and even the restaurant, which is now described as both “casual” and “elevated.”

Officially called Renaissance Chicago O’Hare Suites Hotel, the renovations will be officially unveiled on June 16th as part of a chain-wide event, but the good folks at Laurus Corporation, which owns the hotel, sent over the photo above to give us a sneak peek.

More information in the press release below.

Chicago Renaissance O’Hare Hosts Global Day of Discovery Block Party to Celebrate $6.5 Million Renovation

Chicago Renaissance O’Hare Suites Hotel will reveal its $6.5 million renovation on June 16 with “R” Block Party. Part of Renaissance Hotels’ Fifth Annual Global Day of Discovery (GDoD) – where all 160+ Renaissance hotels around the world host unexpected experiences – the event will celebrate the hotel’s new look and hometown heritage with live music, headlined by Chicago native Michael McDermott, local food trucks, artists and Chicago craft beer.

The $6.5 million dollar renovation features modern, contemporary design throughout the 15,000 square foot property. Each of the 362 guest suites and the executive lounge has been redesigned to fit this aesthetic while adding convenient technology functions. The lively atmosphere of the new, open lobby features communal work tables, stylized seating areas and a charming library nook designed to meet the needs of business and leisure travelers alike. The 5,000-square-foot ballroom and meeting rooms also received a makeover, enhancing the hotel’s ability to create custom events, weddings and conferences.

Under the helm of Executive Chef Tony Roldan, Renaissance Chicago O’Hare’s new elevated casual restaurant, Asado Urban Grill, features an array of expertly-prepared classic dishes and interesting takes on local favorites. The hotel’s beloved lobby bar, R Bar, has already made a name for itself among guests with its signature handcrafted cocktails, local craft beers, and tasty small bites.

“Global Day of Discovery is the perfect way to re-introduce the hotel as it embodies the business unusual ethos that we live by every day,” said Jeffrey Brown, General Manager. “Our mission is to provide guests with unexpected discoveries throughout the property, from the O’Hare runway-design in our carpeting to our knowledgeable Navigators to our nightly punch bowl hour in the lobby.”

The Chicago Renaissance O’Hare Global Day of Discovery event will take place across the more than three-acre property from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., allowing neighboring businesses and the after-work crowd to partake. The evening celebration will kick off with a signature bar ritual, the signal that the working day is over and it is time to transition into an incredible night of discovery and celebrate the #5to9.

Beginning at 11 a.m. with Johnny Iguana of the Claudettes, the music lineup features live shows throughout the day from Brother StarRace, Dog Patch Ramblers, Abraham Mellish, and The Empty Pockets. Michael McDermott is the musical guest of honor and will be the last to perform at 5:30 p.m., giving fans a unique opportunity to see the Chicago native outside of his current tour. Auntie Vee’s, Happy Lobster and Piko Street food trucks will be on site for purchase and an Asado food truck will provide complimentary bites. Guests will have the chance to sample specialty brews and meet the team from nearby Two Brothers Brewing (full beers for purchase).

Event goers will also be invited to “discover” the new Renaissance Chicago O’Hare via a passport that will be stamped at each of the following locations on-site – Asado Urban Grill, guest suite, ballroom and the second floor meeting space. Each participant will be entered to win a grand prize chosen from completed passports.

Acquired in 2013 by Laurus Corporation, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment and development company, Chicago Renaissance O’Hare Suites Hotel is just steps from the “L” Blue Line to downtown and a short ride to the airport via the complimentary 24-hour shuttle service to O’Hare. Its location, amenities and functional design and technology make it a favorite among business travelers.

“We’re excited to officially reveal the complete transformation of the Chicago Renaissance O’Hare to the local community and travelers,” said Andres Szita, Chairman of Laurus Corporation. “The reinvigorated, boutique-style property incorporates unique Chicago elements and conveys an elevated sense of luxury giving our discerning business and leisure guests an above ordinary experience.”
