Gran Turismo Sport Looks Freaking Incredible, Release Date Announced [w/ Gameplay Video]

The race season grows closer for gamers behind the wheel of PlayStation 4 consoles in anticipation of Polyphony Digital’s new racing simulator, Gran Turismo Sport. Fans of the series can pre-order it now from GameStop, PlayStation Store, and Amazon, or wait until the green flag drops in the U.S. and Japan on November 15.

Unlike the last Gran Turismo, all 140 cars in the game will have an interior-camera mode that will show off the detailed bits and pieces of the cockpit. Nineteen tracks will be available in various layouts offering races on both tarmac and dirt for GT3, Protoype, and other racing classes. Those looking for the single-player experience can play Gran Turismo Sport’s 117 events available exclusively offline. Perhaps the most exciting feature debuting is VR headset compatibility and 4K resolution on fancy televisions for the Photomode. A new addition to Photomode is a feature called Scapes that allows players to frame and position their favorite cars in more than 1000 locations around the world.

The pre-orders have their perks depending on where you shop, but Polyphony Digital is giving a sweet Ford Mustang Group B Rally car, Toyota FT-1 Vision GT Group 3 racer, and Peugeot 908 HDi FAP LMP1 in-game to anyone who buys early. GT Academy elites from various countries helped debut the gameplay trailer alongside actual GT Vision cars and a live 3-hour-long test run of GT Sport’s National Cup and Manufacturer Cup racing modes.

Some interesting bits from the trailer:

  • A glimpse of an Alfa Romeo 4C race car
  • Customizable liveries that players can share
  • Starting-grid preview before races show player stats
  • Better angles and flexibility with replay camera
  • Multiple vehicles in Photomode
  • Um, it’s beautiful, duh
