Lincoln Park Loses Its Edge

2720 North Clark

Demo permit issued Friday; nothing but rubble by Tuesday.

It only took a matter of hours for demolition crews to clear the corner of Clark Street and Schubert Avenue in Lincoln Park, then only a few more hours for the City of Chicago to issue a permit for the new AltSchool project to be constructed at 2720 North Clark Street.

Hirsch Associates has designed a two-story, 20,000-square-foot building for the site, with retail space slated for the ground floor, while AltSchool occupies the second floor. A Banana Republic Factory store will occupy one of the retail spaces, while a tenant for the second space is yet to be determined. Parking will be located to the west, off the alley that runs parallel to Clark Street.

Centrum Partners is developing what will be AltSchool’s third U.S. location, joining facilities in San Francisco, Palo Alto, and New York City. AltSchool is a private, technology-focused educator. The Chicago facility will teach kindergarten through 8th grade.

William A. Randolph Inc. of Gurnee is the general contractor. Construction is expected to be completed in time for the 2017 school year.
