Construction is well underway on the new Whole Foods Market at 3201 North Ashland Avenue in the Lakeview neighborhood. Novak Construction, your developer and general contractor, broke ground on the former LaSalle Bank site back in November. The Gensler-designed project will include the 70,000-square-foot store, and parking on the lower level and first floor.
No word yet as to whether or not the new store will incorporate the vaults that were unearthed under the Ashland sidewalk when LaSalle Bank was demolished, but if you had a vault in a grocery store, why would you not turn it into a beer cave? Just a thought.
Expect construction to continue into Spring 2017, at which point Whole Foods should be able to start loading up their shopping carts and shuffle everything across the street from the current store at 3300 North Ashland Avenue.
