There Be Leather Upon That Summit! Jeep Updates Grand Cherokee Summit for 2017

Alongside the resurrected Grand Cherokee Trailhawk at the 2016 New York auto show, Jeep also is showing a mildly updated Grand Cherokee Summit. Where the Trailhawk covers the Grand Cherokee’s dirty, off-road side, the Summit is the Grand Cherokee family’s most luxurious offering next to the high-performance SRT model. For 2017, Jeep has upgraded the Summit with a tweaked front fascia, grille, LED fog lights, and richer interior options.

The biggest change affects the interior, where a new fully leather-wrapped cabin option has been added to the Grand Cherokee Summit’s order sheet. Available in an Indigo and Ski Gray color scheme, the package wraps the dashboard and door panels in Nappa leather and the seats in Laguna leather. Other interior color options include Black, Brown, and Dark Sienna Brown. Adding to the Summit’s existing suite of safety technologies (adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and blind-spot detection) is newly standard lane-departure warning and an automatic parking feature. Other standard Summit features include a suede headliner, Berber floor mats, acoustic glass, active noise cancellation, an 825-watt 19-speaker Harmon/Kardon audio system, and illuminated door sills. Interestingly, Jeep appears to have made four-wheel drive standard on the ’17 Summit; the 2016 model could be had with rear-wheel drive. The only other Grand Cherokee to get standard four-wheel drive is the fire-breathing SRT version.
