Shelby Schooled: Ford Offers Free Track Instruction to 2015–2016 GT350 Owners

The 10Best-winning Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is certainly at home on a race track, but some of its owners might not be. To remedy this, Ford now offers free track instruction for all owners of its most hardcore Mustang variants.

We can certainly get behind the idea that drivers of a 526-hp muscle car should know how to operate it properly, and the Track Attack program that’s part of the Ford Performance Racing School sure sounds like a lot of fun. Taking place at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah, the one-day school involves classroom teaching and on-track driving lessons to cover basics like high-performance braking, shifting, and cornering. Ford says all the instruction is tailored to the dynamics of the GT350 and GT350R, which we described as “an unflappable equilibrium” in our first drive of the GT350.

Don’t worry if you already bought your Shelby Mustang; anyone who purchased a new 2015 or 2016 model-year GT350 or GT350R Mustang is eligible for the school. The course provides cars to avoid too much wear and tear on owners’ personal cars, but participants will need to pay their own lodging and airfare.

For an extra cost, participants can also enroll for more track time in special Mustangs including race-prepped versions of the Boss 302 or Mustang GT. Classes start in April and reservations are open now, so check out the GT350 Track Attack website for more detailed info.
