More Evidence a LaFerrari Spider Is Coming

LaFerrariSpider
-It was first reported that Ferrari might build a LaFerrari Spider in November of 2014, but we haven’t heard anything since. Until now, that is, because a picture surfaced on Facebook Saturday of what very much appears like an event invite to a LaFerrari Spider reveal. The picture features a carbon fiber jewelry box with a Ferrari logo on the front, and an illustration of what looks like a LaFerrari without a roof is on the top.

Ferrari, like its permanent rival Lamborghini, has recently taken to producing ultra-limited edition versions of its normal cars. In 2014, the company produced a 10-car run of a drop-top version of the F12berlinetta, sold as the F60 America. The price was set at $2.5 million, and all were sold out before the car was revealed to the public.

Structural rigidity–typically a problem for convertibles–wouldn’t be an issue here, since the LaFerrari uses a super-stiff carbon-fiber tub. All in all, it makes a lot of sense for Ferrari to do a drop-top LaFerrari.

If the LaFerrari Spider is a thing, expect the price to be astronomical and the production figures to be extremely low. If the picture shared to Facebook proves to be legitimate, we may learn about the LaFerrari Spider very soon.
