Madhouse on Madison Adding Off-Ice Offices

United Center

Michael Jordan reaches high above five stories of steel to dunk on his opponent. Amazing.

If you’ve attended a Chicago Bulls or Chicago Blackhawks game this winter, you’ve undoubtedly noticed the edifice being constructed next to the United Center. If you’ve also noticed that said construction site has taken over the lot where you used to park for said sports events, and you wish to lodge a complaint with whoever kicked you out of that lot, look no further than the two home teams themselves.

The brand new HOK-designed 6-story office building will be the new home of employees of the Blackhawks, Bulls, the United Center, and Levy Restaurants. A 25,000-square-foot atrium, open to the public even without an event ticket, will bridge the United Center to the new structure. A 10,000-square-foot retail store, sporting both teams’ merchandise, will front Madison Street. If all goes according to plan, everything should be up and running by the beginning of the 2016-17 seasons.
