2017 BMW M760Li: Finally Applying M to the 7

2017-BMW-M760iL-PLACEMENT

The new BMW M760Li is the first 7-series that is an M Performance model, finally providing an adequate response to the Audi S8 and Mercedes-AMG S63 and S65 entries. It is also—for now, at least—the first and only 12-cylinder iteration of the new 7-series.

The M760iL’s twin-turbocharged V-12 engine is here upgraded to 6.6 liters of displacement and a whopping 600 horsepower, available at 5500 rpm. Maximum torque is rated at 590 lb-ft, served up at a low 1500 rpm. This awesome power translates into equally impressive on-road performance: The sprint from zero to 62 mph is a matter of 3.9 seconds, according to BMW, and the top speed of 155 mph can be optionally raised to a full 190 mph (at least in Europe).

A rear-biased all-wheel-drive system is standard; torque is fed through BMW’s quick-shifting, ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic (with launch control). The M760iL also comes with 20-inch wheels in Cerium Gray matte finish, and its sport-tuned chassis includes standard rear-wheel steering.

Of course, the M760Li also looks the part: The M Aerodynamic package is standard, the front air intakes are enlarged, and there is more Cerium Gray and gloss-black trim. V-12 badges abound both inside and out, and there is a quadruple-outlet exhaust system that looks great and sounds even better.

The M760iL arrives in U.S. dealerships in early 2017. Welcome, 7-series, to the M family. We think you’ll fit in quite well.2017-BMW-M760iL-BPGA-REEL
