What Price M-Ness? BMW Announces Pricing of the 2016 M2 Coupe

2016 BMW M2

BMW’s M cars seldom come cheap, but when the new 2016 M2 arrives in April at its just-released base price of $52,695, it will come cheaper than the rest.

The M2, which was announced late last year and made its official debut at the 2016 Detroit auto show, undercuts the next-cheapest M car, the $64,495 M3 sedan, by nearly 12 grand, and is more than $14,000 cheaper than the $66,945 M4 coupe. At that price, there aren’t many other cars that can lap the ‘Ring in under eight minutes.

On the other hand, the M2 is $7550 more than the utterly charming $45,145 M235i, which packs plenty of BMW M-division performance enhancements and is a 2016 10Best winner. Will the 365-hp M2’s badassery be worth the extra dough over the sweet, 320-hp M235i? We’ll know soon.
