New Shopping Mall Coming To South Loop In 2017

The South Loop will soon have not one, but two new shopping malls. DNAInfo Chicago reports that Newman Grubb Knight Frank is planning a four-story, 120,000-square-foot mall on the northwest corner of Taylor Street and Jefferson Street.

There’s no name yet on the property, but a spring 2017 opening is planned, with construction beginning as soon as March.

Residents in the area will be within walking distance of three malls–the Newman Grubb Knight Frank development, The Maxwell on the west side of Taylor and Canal, and Southgate Market on the other side of Canal Street.

No tenants have been signed yet, reports DNAInfo, but the developer is in discussion with a number of retailers.
