Attention anglophiles: Has the allure of the sexy Jaguar F-type begun to wane? Does the siren song of its crackling exhaust now fall on deaf ears? Has the once illustrious F-type lost some of its distinction now that examples are circulating among the hoi polloi? Well Jaguar has a cure for your affliction, the 2017 F-type British Design Edition.

Based on the F-type S and available in both coupe and convertible bodystyles, the 2017 British Design Edition starts off with a specially selected trio of colors cribbed from the Union Jack flag: Caldera Red, Glacier White, and, for the first time in the F-type, Ultra Blue. As a concession to those not feeling their U.K. heritage, Ultimate Black is available as a fourth color option. Inside, the British Design Edition offers a black leather interior with Red, Ivory, or Reims Blue contrasting stitching. Unique branding call-outs on the center console—with carbon fiber trim, natch—headrests, and stainless steel sill plates let passengers know you are the dogs bullocks, while British Design Edition badges front and rear replace the standard green and red Jag “S” bits with subtle Union Jack–influenced design. Finally, the F-type’s Design Package, which includes a gloss black front splitter, body-colored side sill extensions, and rear lower valence comes standard on the British Design Edition.

Rolling stock is comprised of 20-inch Cyclone wheels in a unique satin dark-gray finish wearing 255/35-R20 and 295/30-R20 rubber front and rear. British Design Edition center caps will be available as an option.

The 380-hp supercharged V-6 and eight-speed automatic transmission from the F-type S carry over unchanged, with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available. Regardless of the number of driven wheels, Jag’s Super Performance Braking System comes as standard kit. Comprised of larger steel rotors–15.0 inches front, 14.8 inches rear—pinched by twin-piston sliding calipers in front and single-piston sliding calipers in the rear, it’s a welcome addition.

Audio is provided by the familiar 12-speaker, 770-watt Meridian sound system; and 8.0-inch capacitive touch-screen navigation and infotainment system controls the tunes and supports Jaguar’s InControl smartphone app.

While the British Design Edition F-type is visually appealing, we’re guessing buyers will find its exclusivity even more attractive: Set to go on sale in the spring of 2016, production of the extra-British F-type will be limited to just 300 units in the U.S., with prices starting at $93,095.
