The roll-out of the redesigned Nissan Titan has been an unusual one. The truck launched solely as the semi-heavy duty XD, which is a tweener model that sits between a standard half-ton pickup and competitors’ heavy-duty models. And the XD itself had a strange ramp-up: It is currently available solely with a diesel engine; the just-announced gasoline version doesn’t arrive until this spring. Now Nissan finally has revealed when we can expect the half-ton Titan to arrive: this summer. It will be powered by the same 5.6-liter gasoline V-8 as is coming to the XD, with 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque.

It’ll be later still, likely not until 2017, before the gasoline V-6 bubbles to the surface, Nissan tells us. The company hasn’t specified pricing for the gasoline-powered trucks (the only Titan XD currently on sale is the 5.0-liter Cummins turbo-diesel), or given any specs on the V-6.

The Titan we’re most anxious to see, however, is a production version of the Warrior concept that was just introduced at the Detroit auto show. That is, without question, the coolest Titan of all.
