Earlier this month, Chicago Architecture reported on the huge success of this year’s edition of Open House Chicago.
The Chicago Architecture Foundation just released additional details on attendance, illustrating just how big OHC has become in only its fifth year.
If you ventured out to visit the unique architectural gems during OHC weekend on October 17-18, you’ll recall CAF volunteers performed a head count and asked for visitor’s home ZIP Codes. Here’s what they learned—there were:
- 85,000 Attendees
- 320,000 Site Visits at 204 sites in 20 neighborhoods
- 12,100 Tourists and 72,900 Locals
- 4.67 Stars (out of 5) was the average rating attendees scored the event
- 49,000 People visited neighborhoods that they’d never seen before
- 26,800 People made 161,000 CTA trips
- 2,344 Divvy Bike rentals
- 1,600 Volunteers donated 10,000 hours of their time
- 49,000 People (or 92% of the Chicago residents polled) said the event made them feel proud to be a Chicagoan.
- 55,000 Attendees made time for shopping and dining between visits to OHC site, meaning the event provided an economic stimulus.
